Astor Crowne Plaza - New Orleans

Located on the corner of Canal & Bourbon, the entryway to Bourbon Street and the French Quarter sits the Astor Crowne Plaza.

The hotel has elegant southern charm complete with hospitable and friendly staff.

As you enter the hotel, the registration desk is situated at the end of the entry corridor.  Check-in was fast and friendly.

The room has a small entry way before entering the bedroom.  Two double beds dominate the bedroom.

There is a flat screen TV with small dresser.

There is a small desk, in which work space is a premium.

There is also a small lounge chair.

The bathroom is somewhat small, which includes a shower/tub combination and toilet.

One thing that stands out in the room is the lack of lighting.  The room is rather poorly lit, and all lamps do not put out much light.

The room unfortunately does not overlook Canal Street, but instead a run-down building full of rust.  The only saving grace to the poor view is a clip attached to the curtains that allows them to be closed and keep out any signs of daylight when trying to sleep.

The staff here is friendly, accommodating and always willing to help.  Although situated in the French Quarter, traffic can be a nightmare at times.

The hotel is in a good location if  you want to be in the French Quarter, but also want some peace and quiet.
